Maxine has always had an interest in holistic and alternative medicine, particularly eastern philosophy and culture so when the opportunity came along to work in Shanghai, China – she jumped at the chance. The only downside was no Netball; at this point Maxine was playing regular club and county level.
During this time, Maxine completed a Reiki first degree and gained extensive personal experience in traditional Chinese massage, cupping, TCM & reflexology.
12 years later she returned to the UK. With a new-found enthusiasm for exercise, she got back in to playing Netball, fitness training, yoga and cycling – and an awareness of how important it is to maintain muscle recovery and maintenance.
This is when she signed herself on to a weekend course at Neal’s yard ‘an intro to massage’ and BOOM! everything fell into place. She knew instantly that it was what she wanted to do and the journey began starting with Jing. From there she completed the bodyworks beginners course and signed onto the Summer Intensive Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist course where she qualified with full ACMT. She then took a BTEC level 6, the highest qualification in the UK for a massage therapist.
Maxine launched b.e.a.m therapies which has expanded rapidly. Regularly supporting local sports people and teams, such as Pro-Fit with pre-& post-sports massage. Profit are well known within the OCR community. She often donates a day to supporting charity pamper days, local community events and assisting sports club rehabilitation.
Her success is drawn from her own fitness and love of sports. Giving her an understanding of what individuals and team members need to perform to their best ability. Maxine is passionate about helping people become pain free and is motivated working in a sport team environment, assisting teams to reach optimum performance.
Maxine is constantly updating her knowledge with dissection days at Kings College and additional holistic and specific massage courses.
Maxine said “My journey so far has been colourful and I love developing my knowledge and understanding of alternative therapy, whilst breaking down the barriers and daily struggle of managing chronic pain.”
